Jessie's obituary as it appeared in the Fairfield Ledger, January 10, 1946:
Mrs. John A. Benn passed away this morning at 2:15 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry (Inez) Lane in Stockport where she had made her home the past three years. She had been in failing health for three years and seriously ill one week.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the Hoskins funeral home. Rev. H.C. Irvine of Birmingham will officiate and burial in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Benn was born in Jefferson county December 21, 1874 and was a teacher in the Jefferson county school for years. She married John A. Benn who preceded her in death November 20, 1926. She was an active member of the Birmingham Presbyterian church.
Surviving besides Mrs. Lane is another daughter, Mrs. C.R. (Bernice) Laughrige of Dunlap, Iowa and one grandaughter, Beverly Eloise Lane of Stockport.
