Died in the VA hospital as a former WWI veteran. He had interstitual emphysemia for several years and died of an infection. He was the son of James P Cato and Arminia Barnett. He was married and a cook by trade.

In 1900 he lived with his parents in Heidenhamer and in 1910 in Temple, Texas with his father and brother. In 1917 he registered for the draft in Waco, Texas where he was a showman for E B Reed Shows of Shawnee,Oklahoma.

In 1920 he lived in Waco, Texas, with his brother in law and was a carnival operator. In 1930 he lived in Cameron, Milam County, where he managed a cafe and his wife Bernice operated a hamburger stand.

He and Bernice Lianas were married December 2, 1922 in San Antonio, Texas. She was form Indiana.

In 1942 he registered for the WWII draft. He lived in San Angelo and operated Brown's Place, a cafe in Sonora, Texas
