PAXINOS RR 1 -- Isaac G. Dunkelberger, 85, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 29, at his residence. Born in Shamokin Township, on Feb. 20, 1916, he was a son of the late George and Hannah (Sober) Dunkelberger.
He graduated from Trevorton High School and was employed as a carpenter for Broscious Lumber Company, Sunbury. He was later employed as a foreman of construction for Bucknell University during the construction of Rooke Chapel, the Bucknell Library and Swartz Hall. He was also a former partner in Grand Vall Dairy Farm in Irish Valley, now run by his son, Vaughn.
He was married to the former Geraldine Savidge, who preceded him in death in 1999.
He was a member of the Irish Valley United Methodist Church of Paxinos RR 1. He was a golden member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 503 Sunbury and the Stonington Fire Company. He enjoyed attending livestock auctions.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Vaughn and Beatrice Dunkelberger of Paxinos RR 1; two daughters and one son-in-law, Peggy and Eugene Pelly of St. Augustine, Fla. and Margaret Neidig of Sunbury; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and four sisters, Abigail Sankey of Shamokin Dam, Martha Tyler of Selinsgrove, Pearl Davis of Millmont and Alma Dunkelberger of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Thomas, and two brothers, Oscar and Toby Dunkelberger.
