James E. Brichacek known to his friends and neighbors as "Jim" was born September 1, 1901. He was the first born to Mike M. and Marie (Krenk) Brichacek.
Jim grew up in Colfax County ten miles north of Schuyler and attended School District 28.
He married Rose Ann Koliha on October 16, 1928. They had two sons: Donald and George. Jim farmed east of Heun and continued to live on the farmstead until June 1986 when he moved to the Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe, his wife Rose Ann, two grandsons Gerald and Tom, and one great grandson Jason.
He is survived by his sons Donald and George, daughters-in-laws; Phyllis and Joan, 8 grandchildren; Russell, John, Jim, Bill, Susan, Mark, Mike, and Janelle, and three great grandchildren Carrie, Ben and Thomas.
