Opal Zelda Martichuski

Opal was born the daughter of William, and Edith (Bean) Lobb on Thursday, October 29, 1931 in Sedan, New Mexico.

Opal was raised on the family farm in Sedan, New Mexico. On April 3, 1948 she married Lloyd Goad at age sixteen. They were married for sixteen years and divorced in 1964. Lloyd and Opal had four boys. In November 1965, Opal married Floren "Marty" Martichuski. Marty and Opal made their home in Renton, Washington. She worked at Boeing in the electrical assembly department for several years and then became a homemaker. They raised several types of animals from sheep and pigs to steer and goats. Opal loved animals, gardening, all kinds of crafts and family get-togethers. She enjoyed the holidays and would cook for weeks making candies and holiday treats. Upon retirement in 1994, they moved to Dundee where she lived until she moved to the Chehalem Care Center in November 2005. Opal treasured visits from her children and grandchildren and always spoiled them just a bit before they went home.
On Friday, September 2, 2011, Opal Martichuski died at a local care center when she was seventy-nine years, ten months and four days of age.

Surviving and left to honor her life are: Her husband Floren "Marty" Martichuski, Sr.; four sons Lloyd "Allen" Goad, Jr. of Portland, John Wayne Goad of Newberg, Floren "Fred" Martichuski, Jr. of Renton, Washington, and Thomas G. Martichuski of Portland; her daughter Mary Murdoch of Renton, Washington; her sister Iola Spriggs of Clayton, New Mexico; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; and those who have come to know and appreciate her where she has lived and worked. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two sons, Wilbur and Rodney Goad; four brothers Reuben, Charlie, Jacob and Joseph; and two sisters Pearl and Grace.

Her Funeral Service will be Friday, September 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Bjorge officiating. A Committal Service will follow at Valley View Memorial Park, Newberg. Chapel Viewing and Visitation hours are Wednesday, September 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Thursday, September 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, September 9, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Opal was a Homemaker, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, Mother, G'Mother, & friend to all. To know her was to love her.
