He was born July 13, 1932 at Scribner, NE to Harry and Erma (Mead) Schulz. He grew up at Scribner. Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force from January 23, 1952 to August 31, 1972 during the Korean War and served in the Vietnam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant. After his retirement from the Air Force, he moved to Fremont and was employed at Magnus-Farley Metals in Fremont for 15 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1986.
Jerry married Milagros "Mila" Chan on October 5, 1954 in Quezon City, Manila in the Philippines.
Jerry was a member of V.F.W. Post #854 of Fremont and was a past commander,and member of the Fremont Honor Guard. He was a past District Commander of the V.F.W. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #18 in Fremont and held various positions over the years, in both posts.
He is survived by his wife, Mila of Fremont; son, Robert Schulz of Fremont; daughters, Meriam Schulz of Medford, Wisconsin and Nida Schulz of Fremont; 2 sisters, Pat Reandeau of Green Valley, AZ and Joan Brockway of Rome, New York; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale; and sisters, Lee Dillmon, Pearl Becker, Jean Von Seggern and an infant sister, Jackie.
Funeral service, 9 AM, Saturday, September 17th at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont, NE. The Rev Dan Heuer of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Visitation is Friday 3 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends on Friday from 6 PM to 8 PM all at the funeral home. Military graveside service conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of V.F.W. Post #854 and American Legion Post #20 at the Scribner Cemetery at Scribner, NE. Memorials may be given to the V.F.W. Post #854 of Fremont.
