ROBERT MEANS, b 8 Apr 1785, Mifflin Co, PA; d 1 Aug 1835, McLean Co, IL. He married 3 Nov 1818, in Lewis Co, KY, SARAH RUMSEY, b 10 Nov 1795; d 1 Mar 1875, McLean Co, IL. Sarah was the daughter of Charles Rumsey of Cecil Co, MD.

Page 110 - JAMES RUMSEY MEANS, b 22 Mar 1825, Lewis Co, KY; d 1 Nov 1907. He married 7 May 1844, NANCY MELVINA STANSBURY, b 11 May 1827, TN.

James became the head of the family after his father's death in 1835 and worked the farm without assistance. The Means family made all of their own clothing, both linen and woolen, and raised all their needs on the farm.

James was 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed over 200 pounds, with brown hair and eyes, was a prosperous farmer and business man, and was highly respected in his community.

2 - Sarah Melvina, b 24 Apr 1848; d 22 Jul 1925
3 - Owen Amos, d 1865
4 - Ulrich Lee; married Ella
5 - John Henry
6 - James Edward, d in infancy
