Patricia L. Messer, 84, Minot, ND, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in a Minot nursing home.

Patricia was born on February 27, 1927, a daughter of Karl and Florence (Gerber) Goodwin in Des Moines, Iowa. She was raised in Minot and graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1944. She furthered her education by attending Minot State where she graduated in 1948.

In 1955, she moved to Wisconsin and worked for Farmers Union. In 1957, she returned to Minot and worked at the Minot Air Force Base in the Civil Engineering Department. In 1965, she transferred to the Social Security department where she worked as secretary and administrative assistant, retiring in April of 1977.

On June 4, 1966, Patricia was united in marriage to Cecil Messer at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, ND.

Three years ago she moved into Trinity Homes, where she since had lived. Cecil would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Trinity Homes, 2 East for the extraordinary care given to Patricia during her stay there. Cecil would also like to thank his dear friends Dick and Judy Randklev for their care and support over the years.

Patricia was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a former member of the Minot American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Little Flower Catholic Church for many years and later became a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, all in Minot. Patricia was also a proud member of the Beta Theta Sorority Alumni at MSU.

Those who shared in her life: husband Cecil, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends also survive.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents.
