From "The Pennsylvania College book 1832-1882":

[Note: The Pennsylvania College later was named Gettysburg College, and Mr. Hoch was a member of the class of 1853.]

"Levi K. Hoch. Born December 14, 1824(sic/rd), in Middlesex township, Cumberland county. Pa. Parents, George and Mary. After teaching school, entered Preparatory, 1847. Phrenakosmian. Linnsean. During college course and after graduation taught school till 1861, after which he engaged in farming till his death, September 3, 1874. Married August 23, 1855, to Martha C. Moor, Springfield, Cumberland county, Pa."

From "History of Berrysburg Seminary" by the Elizabethville Echo, 1916, taken from an address by Daniel G. Lubold given to alumni and students at a 1904 reunion:

"Nothing could be learned of the second principal, Levi K. Hoch, except that he is still recalled by some who had been his pupils, as a very excellent teacher."

Apparently Mr. Hoch also lived out of state as well. The January 22, 1864 "Valley Register" of Middletown, Maryland reported "Mr. L. K. HOCH has sold his house and lot, situate in Grove's Addition to Middletown, to Mr. Martin BRANDENBURG, for $1,300."
