U.S. Congressman. He was a successful farmer and served at Lieutenant Colonel second in command of the 104th Regiment, New York Militia during the War of 1812. After the war, he was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1829. In 1835, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress, serving until 1837. After his term, he returned to his farming interests until his death at age 89.
