Maria DeJesus Anaya, 73, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Mountain View Towers in Cheyenne.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Colyer Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Maldonado officiating. Burial followed in the Valley View Cemetery.

Maria was born Feb. 5, 1938, in Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Teodulo and Gonzala (Vazquez) Rodriguez.

She grew up and attended school in Mexico. She later owned a convenience store in Chihuahua, Mexico. Maria married Jose M. Anaya Feb. 8, 1978, in Torrington.

Maria was a member of Rhema Fellowship in Torrington. She loved to knit and sew and grow flowers. Maria knew her bible well and had committed many verses to memory.

She is survived by her husband Jose M. Anaya, of Torrington, and his nine children, Lupe and her husband Marcos Martinez of Torrington, Jesus and his wife Elsa Anaya of Wisconsin, Mercedes Mendez of Torrington, Miguel and his wife Maria R. Anaya of Torrington, Christina Colling of Scottsbluff, Neb., Jose M. and his wife Norma Anaya of Texas, Martin and his wife Claudia Anaya of Kansas, Yolanda and her husband Martin Juarez of Texas, Sonia and her husband Luis E. Loya of Torrington; 28 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Guerrero and his wife Martina Rodriguez of Mexico; a brother, Teodulo and his wife Anna Rodriguez of Mexico; a sister, Berta Alicia and her husband Ruperto Ruiz of Mexico; a sister, Aucencia and her husband Carlos Garcia of Mexico; a brother, Manuel and his wife Trinidad Rodriguez of Texas and a brother, Ruben and his wife Rosaveatriz Rodriguez of Mexico.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arturo and Ponposo Rodriguez; and her sister, Elva Porraz.
