Services Monday For Joel Spyker
Joel Spyker, 86, retired Lima hardware merchant, died at 6:50 p.m. Friday at his home, 718 W. High-st, following a six months illness. Mr. Spyker was operator and producer in Indiana and Ohio oil fields, and former president of the Consumers Coal Co. He later purchased and operated the Spyker Hardware Co. His wife died last January.
Mr. Spyker was born in Shawnee-tp and was a member of Trinity Methodist church, F. and A. M. Lodge No. 205, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Solar Lodge 783, Ft. Amanda Encampment, No. 502, and the Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving is one son, Lawrence K., Shawnee-tp; four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude McPheron, Tiffin; Mrs. Florence Stemen, Elida; Mrs. Irma Wooley, Shawnee-tp, and Mrs. Eleanor Turner, 718 W. High-st. There are 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The body will remain at the Davis-Miller and Son funeral home until after services at 1:30 p.m. Monday. Dr. J. Ira Jones, pastor of Trinity church will officiate, and burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
