Wm. LaMar one of the old residents of Gove County, died last Tuesday morning at his home east of Grinnell. Mr. LaMar had been an invalid for sometime having suffered from a stroke of paralysis a few years ago from which he never fully recovered.

William M. LaMar was born near Georgetown, Ill. August 25th, 1869 and died at Grinnell, Kansas May 25th, 1926 aged 56 years and 9 months. At the age of 12 years he moved with his parents to Thorntown, Indiana. He resided there for four years and when16 years old moved to Michigantown, Indiana where he found employment and started in business for himself.

While at Michigantown he joined the Baptist Church and has never changed his membership. In 1894 Mr. LaMar came to Western Kansas and took a homestead one mile east and half mile south of Grinnell and has resided there until the time of his death. In 1889 he joined the Modern Woodmen and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in 1901. In 1916 he was a state delegate to Wichita at the annual meeting of the Grand Lodge I.O.O.F. representing the local lodge at Grinnell.

In 1903 he was united I marriage to Miss Mable Stansbury and to them four children were born, all of whom are living at the home place at Grinnell, Harry, Versa, William and Elmer. In addition to the widow and four children, Mr. LaMar leaves two brothers, James S. of Phoenix, Ariz. and George of Frankfort, Ind. both of whom were present for the funeral. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Robb, on Friday afternoon at the Grinnell Christian Church. Interment was made in Grinnell Cemetery.
