Major League baseball Player. Nicknamed 'Long Herm' Besse pitched parts of 4 seasons for Connie Mack's dreadfull A's team's of the 1940's. His best season was 1942 when he went 2-9 with a 6.50 ERA. He accrued a lifetime record of 5-15 with a 6.79 ERA with 2 saves. After his career he lived in Los Angeles and worked as a newspaper dealer for the LA Times for 16 years. He died from Pancreatic Cancer.
