Killed near Woodstock and Fisher's Hill (Brook Run) during Early's Campaign. A member of Company K, 2nd Virginia Cavalry, Fitz Lee's command. His remains were brought home by his brother, C. Harper Anderson.

He enlisted Williamsport, Md. 14 July 1863. As Pvt. Absent sick with scabies in Charlottesville Hospital 25 July - 1 Aug 1864. KIA at Tom's Brook 8 Oct 1864. From Regimental History by Robert Davis Jr. and H. E. Howard.

He is a grand-nephew of the explorer, Capt. Meriwether Lewis.
