Kelly S. Hopkins, 79, died suddenly at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ezra Hinzman, of Sandyville. He was a charter member of the Meadowdale Baptist church. Born at Ripley, Feb. 3, 1862, a son of James and Margaret Hopkins. On Nov. 27, 1884, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Woods. He spent most of his life at Sandyville. Mr. Hopkins leaves his wife, Mary Hopkins; one daughter, Mrs. Ezra Hinzman, of Sandyville; two sons, A. R. Hopkins and P. B. Hopkins, both of Parkersburg; two sisters, Mrs. T. S. Stewart, of Parkersburg and Mrs. W. S. Pierson, of Clay, W. Va.; one half-sister, Mrs. Vincent Sharp, of Reedy, and 10 grandchildren. Five children preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the Meadowdale Baptist church and interment was in the cemetery there. [from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
