He was baptized December 10, 1916 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kramer and attended St. John's school. He was confirmed on May 18, 1930 at St. John's.
Elmer farmed and was on the mail route around Kramer and after moving to Denver in 1957 worked at an animal research lab.
He died on May 20, 1984 in Denver after a long illness at the age of 67.
He is survived by his brothers Earl of Denver and Mervin of Aurora, Colorado.
Funeral services were held May 24, 1984 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kramer, Nebraska with Pastor Lyle Hansen officiating. Organist was Gloria Pospisil; soloist was Delbert Reiss; songs: How Great Thou Art, God be with You. Pallbearers were Harry Fangmeier, Ray Renner, Harold Schlichtemeier, Glen Henning, Joe Cudly, Dolyn Steuer.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
