Robert A. Schulz, 77, of 18922 Twin Bay Lane, Kiel (Cedar Lake) died Tuesday afternoon, July 27, 2004, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Sheboygan, son of the late Arno John and Martha Wessel Schulz. He attended Pigeon River School and was a graduate of Kiel High School. He also attended DeVry School of Electronics in Chicago. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from January of 1945 until September of 1946.

On May 12, 1951 he married Dolores M. Diem at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel. Robert was employed at Household Utilities in Kiel for approximately 40 years in electronic repair until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel, where he was a member of the choir, consistory, superintendent and Sunday school teacher and was the church “handyman.” He also was a driver for the Kiel Senior Center and was a member of the American Legion, Post 124, New Holstein.

In his leisure time, Robert was an avid racing fan, worked for the Calumet Co. Racing association, enjoyed golfing and bowling on a senior league, flying, pontoon rides on Cedar lake and fixing anything that was broke.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dolores of Cedar Lake; three children, Diane Schulz and special Friend, Scott Haugstad of Elkhart Lake, Keith Schulz of Kiel, and Aaron (Naomi) Schulz of rural Kiel; one grandson, Grady Robert Schulz; and two brothers, Carl (Doris) Schulz of Sheboygan Falls, and Arno John Schulz of Kiel. He is further survived by two sisters, Gertrude Schulz of Grays Lake, Ill., and Marian (Jack) Piper of Morristown, Tenn.; and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Carolyn Diem of School Hill. He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Diefenthaler.

Memorial services will be held at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Kiel with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs officiating. Cremation has taken place with burial of the cremains to take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Schwartzwald, town of Herman.
