Ralph M. Woolley
81, of Springfield, formerly of Girard, died at 1:05 p.m.
Friday at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 30, 1911, in Girard, the son of Dale A. and Pearl McElvain Woolley. He married Lila E. Evans in 1932 in Carlinville. Preceding him in death was an infant daughter, Mary Ann Woolley.
Mr. Woolley was the owner and operator of Woolley Hardware in Girard for more than 30 years, retiring in 1963. He was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church; Girard American Legion Post 115, of which he was past commander; Lodge 171, AF&AM, of which he was past master; and Girard Chapter 17 of Order of the Eastern Star, of which he was past worthy patron. Mr. Woolley was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Girard and Girard Kiwanis. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Lila E.; a son, Reed A. of Springfield; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Berry Funeral Home, Girard, with the Rev. John Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Girard Cemetery.
