Funeral services for Edwin "Bud" Norman, 77, Fairmont, MN, will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 1:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, Fairmont, with Rev's Scott Duffus and Neil Christopherson officiating. Bud died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health Systems. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2003 from 4-7:00 pm at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home, Fairmont and one hour prior to the services in the church Saturday. Interment will follow the services in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont, MN with full military honors by Martin County VFW Post 1222 and Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36.

Edwin Arthur Norman was born on August 9, 1926 in Lake Crystal, MN to Earle and Lillian Hellekson Norman. Edwin was baptized October 31st, 1926 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal. He attended elementary school in Garden City, MN. They moved to Starbuck, MN and he attended country school until 9th grade. Edwin attended Morris Agriculture School graduating March 26th, 1943. He entered the U.S. Navy January 23rd, 1945. Edwin served in WWII until July 7th, 1946. He continued to serve inactive duty in the Reserves. In 1947 he returned to the Morris Agriculture School for an advanced course, graduating in the spring of 1947. Edwin was reactivated with the U.S. Navy on February 5th, 1951 for the Korean Conflict serving until April 11, 1952.
Edwin married Betty Arndt on June 12, 1954 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Winnebago, MN. They made their home in Winnebago and he worked for Stokely-Van Camp. Edwin was transferred to Stokely-Van Camp's Fairmont location in the fall of 1959. Bud worked there until retirement in 1993.

Bud was a member of Grace Lutheran Church; life member of the Martin Co. Post 1222 VFW where he was in the honor guard; lifetime member of the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36; lifetime member of the Military Order of the Cooties and a former member of the Fairmont Jaycee's. Bud had a love for family, friends, and sports. Bud thoroughly enjoyed gardening and was well known at the Farmer's Market.

Bud is survived by his wife, Betty, Fairmont; one sister, Jeanne Tully, Edina, MN and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert in infancy, and Jay and two sisters, Beth Trouth and Erlene Noble.
