Mrs. Susan K. Marta "Grammy" went to be with the lord September 9, 2011.
She was preceded by her husband of 24 years, John Paul Marta. She leaves behind her three beautiful daughters and two sons-in-law, Jill Marta of Wilmington, Amy Marta of Wilmington, Edward Carney of Wilmington, and Jan and Aaron DeMaris of Newark; her four wonderful grandchildren Gabriella Sofia & John Paul Carney and Gavin Scott & Colin Edward DeMaris. She also leaves behind her three brothers and their wives: Kevin & Ellen Kielbasa of Hawaii, Edward & Joanne Kielbasa of Milford, & Gregg & Sheree Kielbasa of Clayton; her father Edward M. Kielbasa Sr. of Dover; her aunt Madelin L. Marta of Wilmington; and her sister-in-law Joan Marta of Maryland. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
Susan was a business woman and homemaker. She truly loved life and those around her. Her greatest passion was her grandchildren. Susan never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandbabies. Susan loved animals, and her cats Charlie and Sophie. She enjoyed traveling to the beach, gardening, and being with her girls. She was a proud mother and wanted nothing more in life than to spend time with her family. Susan touched countless lives and will be missed deeply with every day that passes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 6th and West Sts. in Wilmington, on Wednesday morning, September 14 at 10 am. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery (www.silverbrookcemetery.com). Family and friends may call at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave. in Wilmington, on Tuesday evening, September 13 from 6-8 pm. Visitation will be held privately on Wednesday morning prior to mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Delaware Humane Association.
