ALBANY--Nilah B. Brooking, 78, 244 S. Delaware St., died Sunday in Ball Hospital, Muncie, after a brief illness.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Brooking had lived in Albany for 52 years. She was a retired school teacher with 37 years' experience, 27 of which were at Albany Elementary School. She retired in 1965.
Mrs. Brooking belonged to Albany United Church of Christ, Delaware County Retired Teachers Association, American Association of University Women, Rebekah Lodge and Pollyanna Club, and was a charter member of Albany Business and Professional Women's Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Beth (Mrs. Donald) Forbes, Albany; two sisters, Nelda (Mrs. John) Hedrick and Mary (Mrs. Robert) Hoover, both of Ridgeville; four grandchildren, Kim Hartsock and Jeff, Kristi and Susan Forbes, all of Albany, and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Albany United Church of Christ, with Pastor Dean Christianson officiating. Burial will be in Lawndale Cemetery, Ridgeville. Calling hours at Parson-Rust Funeral Home are 7-9 p.m. today or at the church an hour before services Wednesday.
