DR. AUSTIN WELTON WALLACE
Funeral for Dr. Austin Welton Wallace, 87, 1528 South 13th, Chickasha will be at 11:30 a.m.Wednesday, January 5, 1983 in the First Christian Church with Rev. Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating.
Dr. Wallace was born Sept. 6, 1895 near Lanes Prairie, Mo. He died Sunday, Jan. 2, 1983 in Grady Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Wallace attended grade school at Lanes Prairie, MO. He took his high school work at Warrensburg Teachers' College at Warrensburg, Mo. He graduated from Washington University Dental School at St. Louis, MO.
Dr. Wallace was in the first World War, serving in the 355th Ambulance Company. After the war he stayed on in France to serve in the Army of Occupation.
On the completion of his college work, he took the advice of his uncle, Dr. W. C. Travis, who was then a practicing dentist in Chickasha and came to Chickasha to practice his own profession. He had his office in the Petroleum Building for over 55 years.
He married Mrs. Jean Pillard, a teacher from Iowa, on June 1, 1952.
Dr. Wallace was an active member of the First Christian Church and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. He belonged to the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of the home; one step-son, Stephen Pillard of New Jersey; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Dehn of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Armenta Davis of Tulsa; an aunt, Mrs. W. C. Travis of Chickasha; a cousin of Chickasha, Miss Pansy Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be ins Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Brown-Binyon Funeral Home.
