Following Ibba's death, Daniel re-married - Melvina Jane Pruner (3 May 1860.) He pioneered with his family to Missouri in 1868. He purchased a farm near Chapel Hill, in the southwestern part of Lafayette county Missouri - not far from the rural church of Concord. He and his wife Melvina were members of the Church of Christ; they are buried in the little Bates City Missouri cemetery a few miles north of his farm home.
Added at the request of Mark McCrady: Daniel and Melvina had 2 children in Johnson County before moving to Missouri. They were Ibia C. Doty, died October 4 1864, Aged 1y 1m, and Laura A. Doty, died August 12 1865, Aged 13d. They are both buried in Hopewell Cemetery with no stones.
