Sheri Lyn Coats Trapp, 53 of Westchester, Ohio, died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Kline Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 29, 1958, she was the daughter of Lamar Chester Coats and Patricia Louise Wright Coats. On Aug. 6, 1981, she married David William Trapp in Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Trapp had been a teacher and gymnastics coach at Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah. After moving to Ohio, she coached private club gymnastics for a number of years. She also coached cheerleading for private clubs, as well as for Stebbins High School in Dayton, Ohio, and Southwest High School in High Point, N.C.
She was a very positive influence on many individuals, especially on many of the young people whom she coached and taught. She was a vivacious, caring and loving individual.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, David Christopher, Bradley William, Jeffrey and Lamar Curtis James; three grandchildren; and siblings, Cindy McGregor, Richard Lamar, Randal Vern, Shauna Purser and Robert Craig.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nauvoo, Ill.
The funeral service for Mrs. Trapp will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. Burial will follow in Nauvoo City Cemetery.
