Biography of Frances' step-brother, Lorenzo Alton Bailey. He is #39128352:

"Lorenzo Alton Bailey, of the Washington bar, and who also practices in the courts of Virginia and Maryland, chiefly in the higher civil courts and the court of claims, has been known in professional circles in the District of Columbia for thirty years.

He was born at Port Richmond, Staten Island, New York, June 21, 1855, son of William H. Bailey and Eileen Alton his wife, on the paternal side a descendant of New England stock, while through his mother he comes of English and Irish ancestors. His father, William H. Bailey, was in service during the civil war in the Twenty-third Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry, was seriously wounded in the second Bull Run battle, and soon afterward was discharged for disabilities.

Mr. Bailey was educated in public schools and under private instruction and was educated for the law at Georgetown University School of Law, graduating from there with the degree of LL. B. in 1876. In the same year he was admitted to practice in the courts of the District of Columbia, but before entering active practice he was for a time in the office of Hon. George W. Paschal, and later in the office of the United States district attorney. He then began general practice in the civil courts of the district, having little inclination for the criminal branches, and his professional engagements frequently call him into the courts of Virginia and Maryland. He is a Mason, an Elk, and a Knight of Pythias."
