Zachria Taylor Johnson, was born
in Schuyler Co., Mo. February 11,
1847 and departed this life at his
home October 13 1928; age 79 years
8 months and 2 days. He was the son
of John M. and Lucinda Maxwell John
son and was the oldest of a family of
thirteen children. He was united in
marriage to Elizabeth Jane Brink,
December 1870, who preceded him in
death January 16. 1910. He was again
married to Mrs. Minerva Drake in
January 1913 and they have resided
on the home place for the past 16
years. To his first union seven child-
ren were born, five of them having
preceded him in death, two dying in
infancy, one son Charley at twenty,
one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Dabney
passed away eight years ago and one
son Willie died at one year of age.
The two who survive him are Mrs.
Ida Hobart of Moulton and Mrs. Jes-
sie Stober, of near Monterey; he is
also survived by his companion, six
brothers J. W., S. E., and Sylvester,
of Ravana. Mo., Jeff of Monterey and
Charley of Moulton, two sisters Mrs.
Price Clapham, of Ravana and U. G.
Johnson of Bloomfield, eleven grandchildren,
eight great grandchildren
and two step-sons George Drake, of
Pulaski, and Leo Drake at home. Mr.
Johnson was a sufferer for several
years but bore it patiently, being well
cared for by his companion and stepson,
also Mrs. Vilora Horn. He lived
a busy life, was a devoted husband
and loving father, was an obliging
neighbor and friend to all and in his
last illness he placed his trust in
Jesus; of this we gave testimony to
those who assisted and comforted him.
Funeral services were held Sunday
afternoon at the Monterey Christian
church in charge of the Rev. Luther
W. Childs of Ottumwa. Interment was
made in the Burgher cemetery.
