Courtney Van Warren was the son of Odis Fletcher Warren and Nora Sparks.

Private First Class Warren was a member of Company A, 1st Shore Party, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade. He was Killed in Action while defending his position at the Pusan Perimeter in South Korea. Private First Class Warren was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
