Arthur Foston Obituary
Arthur Foston, retired professor Emeritus from California State University Fresno died on June 22, 2011 in Fresno, California. Professor Foston was born in Needville, Texas on September 1, 1924 to Alex and Bettie Lewis Foston. Prior to moving to Fresno in 1968 to teach at CSU Fresno, he taught high school in Denton and Dallas Texas and was a professor at Prairie View A & M University. He was an alumnus of Prairie View A & M, North Texas State University and Colorado State University with degrees in electrical engineering, physics and mathematics. In addition to teaching, he consulted with Hughes Aircraft, IBM and other corporations and was a licensed radio ham operator.
He is survived by his wife, Novella Foston, of Fresno, California; son, Frederick Foston, of Fallbrook, California; daughters, Mary Foston-English of Campbell, California and Donna Taylor of Houston, Texas, as well as 6 grandchildren, 2 brothers in Houston, Texas and a sister in Ft. Worth Texas as well as a host of nieces and nephews. His 1st wife, Mary Nell Wheeler Foston, preceded him in death in 1990.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011; 10 am at Greater New Prospect Baptist Church, 15230 Highway 36 in Needville. Texas. Funeral Arrangements by Gooden Funeral Home, 1716 Avenue E, Needville
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arthur Lee and Mary Nell Foston scholarship at CSU Fresno. Memorial services will be held on July 12, 2011 in Fresno, California.
