Mary was born in the Bahamas -- a true Conch -- and came to the Florida Keys with her husband, John Patrick 'Pump" Saunders and the rest of her family in 1888. Most of her children were born in the Bahamas. They settled in Key West and she lived there for about the next 30-35 years, before moving to Miami. She lived in Miami until her death at the age of 93 yrs.

NOTE: She is in the Richmond family plot with her daughter Sadell "Sadie" (Saunders) Richmond and her husband William Richmond, along with their young son Carl who passed away. This is in Section 9, Lot 408 -- notes below about how to find it. It is basically a few rows short of the fence with the Valero gas station right behind it across the road. There is a "stone" shaped like a tree several rows in front of this plot.

Gravesite Details

Get a Woodlawn Park map and look for Section 9. When you drive there, look for the "Section 9" tiny sign right on the road and keep your eyes peeled for the Plant and Wolfson stones. Mary's site is straight back heading to the gas station.
