Earl Loren Harris, II was my older brother. He was exactly 50 weeks to the day older than I was. He was killed in a single car accident on I-20 near Madison, GA (half way between Atlanta & Augusta, GA)in late October, 1973. Earl was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Earl also had his "Mile Swim" award in the Boy Scouts. I left home when I was 16 and we never saw each other after that. Earl was killed in the single-car accident when he was only 22 years old. Earl was diabetic Type I and had this illness since he was 6 years old. He is buried next to our father, 1/LT Earl Loren Harris, Sr. Pall bearers were provided by International Order of DeMolay, Acacia Chapter (Bloomington, IN). If memory serves me correctly after all these 40 years past; Earl's headstone has a Boy Scout emblem on it with the inscription: "Gods Will Be Done." That inscription was our mother's idea and not necessarily the viewpoint of other people.
