Harriet Morley and her family were part of Windermere's early history, active community leaders involved in the growing citrus industry. Harriet never married, devoting her life to the church and her family. When her beloved Aunt Bertha needed assistance in her advancing years, Harriet sold the family home and business and moved to California to take care of her aging aunt who was by then living in Claremont Manor, a retirement facility in Claremont, California. Harriet also took up residence there to be close by, continuing her work in the church all the while. She came back to Florida from time to time to visit with friends and my family was fortunate enough to spend time with her when she was here. She remained in California after Aunt Bertha passed and when the time came, she moved into the assisted living section of Claremont Manor and remained there until the end. At her request, she was brought home to Florida to join her mother, father and brother in Woodlawn Memorial Park in the family plot.

She was a lovely woman, highly intelligent, gracious, kind and generous to her family, friends and church. She was also an author, having written two books concerning the adventuresome life of her Aunt Bertha who was a world traveler and humanitarian.

She was a great friend to my mother over the span of many years and was regarded as family. She is missed.
