Judith Darlene Hood, 71, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Manor Care in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis.
She was born July 21, 1940, in Indianapolis, to Kenneth and Marjorie (Wolfe) Locke. She married Benjamin L. Hood on Dec. 12, 1959; he lovingly survives in Indianapolis.
Other survivors include her son, Gary Gene Hood of Indianapolis; daughter, Brenda Renee (Larry) Silver of Muncie; grandchildren, Bradley, Bryan and Brandi Martin, Benjamin Hood, Gary Hood Jr. and Ashley Hood; step-grandchildren, Larry Silver Jr., Brandon Silver, Amanda Asplan and Drew Silver; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Kennedy and Kayden Martin; step-great-grandchildren, Larry Silver and Kendall Asplan; and brother, Richard (Patty) Locke of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in passing by her parents.
Judy was a 1959 graduate of Manual High School.
She was employed for several years by Indiana Bell, Ameritech and AT&T as a telephone operator. She later worked for several years at Vita-Chlor in Indianapolis.
Judy was a member of Greenwood Church of Christ. She also was a member of Pioneers in Indianapolis.
Steve Niemeier will conduct a celebration memorial service of Judy's life at 3 p.m. Monday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be conducted at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood at a later date.
