Donald Bauman
May 6, 1933 - Aug. 30, 2011

Donald Leroy Bauman, age 78 years, died Aug. 30, 2011, at Yakima Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Hubbard-Rogg Chapel with burial following in the family plot in the Dayton City Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to one of Don's favorite charities, Hospice Friends of Ellensburg, 401 E. Mountain View Ave. Suite 3, Ellensburg, WA 98926, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101, or charity of the donor's choice.

Don was born May 6, 1933, in Dayton. His parents were Herschel and Ella Stearns Bauman. He graduated from Dayton High School with the class of 1952 and served in the U.S. Army before beginning a career as a retail meat manager. He retired after 39 years with Albertsons grocery.

He married the love of his life, Hertha Leseman on July 21, 1956. They lived in several states until they settled in Ellensburg in 1971.

Don loved and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, but the real joy of his life was golfing with longtime friends every week.

He is preceded in death by six siblings; his wife, Hertha; and his grandson, Camerson Osborn.

His survivors include his daughters, Teresa (Dennis) Beckett, Debbie (Rusty) Osborn and Dawn (Richard) Hess. He has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who he adored, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He has one surviving brother, Clancy Bauman.
