James Roy Evans
94, a retired farmer, husband of Sylvia Vanover Evans, died Friday, September 2 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington. Born in Cincinnati, OH, he was a son of the late Johnce and Mallissa Ann Bell Evans. James was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Glenn's Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Pat (Melvin) Sutherland of Versailles, Gail (Don) Southworth of Lawrenceburg, three sons, John Evans of Versailles, Marshall Evans of Frankfort, Perry Lee Richardson of Casey Co., a sister, Clara Evans of Liberty, twenty two grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Leroy and Jimmy Evans, two sisters, Christine Shell and Rena Richardson, and two brothers, Kenneth and Franklin Evans. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 6 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, September 7 with Rev. Justin Rader officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at Rose Crest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Evans, David Evans, Ricky Reynolds Jr., Donald Evans, Frank "Dink" Evans, and Tim Evans.
