Keith A. Lindsey was sent to Vietnam with the 82nd Airborne Division in January 1968. His brother, J.W. Lindsey, Jr. had already been sent to Vietnam in August 1967. Brothers were not allowed to serve in a war zone at the same time. After trying several sources, in an effort to get one son returned home, John Lindsey, Sr. contacted Congressman Jim Wright, who arranged for one son to be sent home. J.W. and Keith were able to get together for a couple of days while in Vietnam. The decided that Keith should return home since J.W. only had about six months left on his tour of duty in Vietnam. They were able to see each other once more a few weeks later as Keith was returning home.
