Hannah Elizabeth Gould
ALFRED, April 1 - Hannah Elizabeth Gould died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Miss Lillian W. Gould, Deputy clerk of courts for York County. Mrs. Gould was born in Lowell, Mass., July 8th, 1848, daughter of Moses B. and Eliza Ann (Benson) Foster. Five children survive her: Ralph E. Gould of Anson, Mrs. Mary M. Pickup of Medford, Mass., Mrs. Grace Moore of Springvale, Franklin F. Gould of Freeport, and Miss Lillian Gould of Alfred. She is also survived by one brother, Dr. A.M. Foster of Candia, N.H. There are ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gould lead an active and useful life. She joined the Baptist church at Gray, when a young girl and was always a devout Christian. At one time she was head nurse of the Dr. Witmer Orthogenic School for Children in Philadelphia. She was a widely recognized authority on the care of children. She was the author of "Science of Feeding Babies and Normal Care of the Growing Child."
