Betty Jo Shafer, 74, Bethany, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011 at a North Kansas City Hospital.

She was born May 28, 1937 in McFall, MO, the daughter of Francis Edwin and Pauline (Sweat) Elder.

On March 24, 1955, she married Bert Shafer in Princeton, MO. He survives at the home.

Betty had worked as an abstractor at Baker Abstract in Macon, MO. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Bethany, MO.

Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Charmayne (Garry) Robertson, Bethany, MO; sons, Kevin (Donna) Shafer, Farmington, MO; Tony (Debbie) Shafer, Dexter, MO; mother, Pauline Lirley, Bethany, MO; 6 grandchildren, Becky (Dan) Dilley, Pattonsburg, MO, Garret (Korissa) Robertson, Eagleville, MO, Shadrick (Christi) Shafer, Perryville, MO, Serena (Brian) Comegys, Liberty, MO, Shane Shafer, Dexter, MO, Myranda Shafer, Fredricktown, MO; 10 great-grandchildren, Emily, Shelbey, Cole and Saige Dilley, Kamden and Kira Robertson, Bryson and Jillian Comegys, Bennett Shafer and Layton Shafer; brother, Jerry (Denise) Elder, Pleasant Valley, MO; several nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by father, Ed Elder and step-father, Clyde Lirley.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial in McFall Cemetery, McFall, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where friends may call after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
