Doris M. Lee, 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, in Mt. Pleasant, with Father Brian Shepley celebrating the mass. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A scripture service will be held at 7:30 at the Murphy Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or to the Unbound Organization.
Doris was born on September 29, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of Harry A. & Stella Hoover Ford. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in the class of 1949, and graduated from Ottumwa Heights Junior College in 1951. She was united in marriage to Richard E. Lee on June 11, 1955, they later divorced.
Doris was a faithful member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant having served as a past president of the Alter and Rosary Society. She worked for Sylvania Electric, the Iowa Ordnance Plant, Mt. Pleasant Community Schools as a teachers aid, Mt. Pleasant Utilities, Wielands Greenhouse, and retired in 1995, after eighteen and half years with the Goodyear Industrial Hose Plant. Doris enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, squirrels and the company of her dog “Dozer”.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, one son Kevin Lee, three sisters; Suzanne Burrell, Marilyn McWilliams and Kathleen Wholey, one brother; Wayne (Barney) Ford.
