1957-08-15 pg 1 col 3
Funeral services were held Wednesday in Tulsa for little Gayla Parker, 9-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Gene Parker. Mrs. Parker is the former Miss Faye Justice of Checotah.
The infant was drowned Monday in a tragic accident at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Parker were away from home leaving the baby in care of a neighbor. The lady who was taking care of the Parker baby put the infant and her own 7-year-old child in the bathtub. She went into the next room for a moment and returning found Gayla face down in the tub. She administered emergency first aid and summoned help. The infant was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Gayla was the grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Justice who live four miles east of town.
