She was the daughter of Simon and Ann Elizabeth LaFaber Whitney. She married John W. Lee on August 17, 1882, in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio.

Mrs. Mary E. Lee died Monday February 8, at the General hospital, at the age of 77. She was the mother of Harry H. Lee who died Thursday of the past week.
Mary Elizabeth Whitney was born March 11, 1859, in Marietta, Ohio. She spent most of her early life in that section, and was married to John W. Lee August 16, 1882, who survives her. There were born to them, three daughters, not Mrs. Brenna Thoms and Mrs. helen Miller, both of Casper, and Mrs. Mabel Taylor of Grass Creek; also four sons, Harry Lee, who passed away only last week, and Gerald Lee, who died May 8, 1924. Both of these sons were residents of Grass Creek. The two living sons are Ray E. Lee of Grass Creek and Roy L. Lee of Casper.
There are also surviving ten grandchildren as follows: Gerald, John and Glenna Taylor,children of Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor of Grass Creek; Harold J. Lee of Cody, the son of the late Harry Lee; Helen, Thelma and Alexis Thoms, children of Mr. & Mrs. Alexis Thoms of Casper; Robert & Bernard Lee, sons of Ray Lee. Three Grandchildren, Loydie Lee, Harry Miller and Margie Lee died years ago.
The four great grandchildren are Lyle Wilbur Taylor and Gerry Taylor of Grass Creek, and Harold Dale Lee and Kenneth Lyle Lee of Cody.
The deceased lady, with her husband and family, came first to Wyoming in 1916, and made their home in this section of the state continuously ever since.
The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Community Church, conducted by the Rev. J. E. Nash. Interment was at Riverside.
