Was Ill Only a Few Days With Pneumonia; Funeral Held Wednesday Afternoon
Death has again invaded another country home and claimed as its prize a wife and mother, in the person of Mrs. Herman Reese, who passed quietly away at her home in Ela township Sunday evening at 6 o'clock, after suffering only a short time from pneumonia, preceded by influenza.
The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from St. Paul's church, Rev. Tietke having charge. A large number of relatives and friends attended the services and later followed the remains to their last resting place in Evergreen cemetery, where interment took place.
Deceased was born on the 23rd day of March, 1870, near Palatine, where she lived with her parents until they moved to a farm near this village. At the age of 14 she was confirmed in St. Paul's church, and was a member in good standing at the time of her demise. On October 27, 1898, she was united in marriage to Herman Reese, who together with four children survive. They are Ella, Rose, Donald and William. She also leaves her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Miller, who live in Palatine, two brothers, Henry, of Ela township and Herman of Palatine township, a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs. Reese had lived in this community all her life. By her friends she was known as a woman of marked generosity, giving liberally of her abundant means toward all worthy objects and aiding all enterprises for the public good. She will be greatly missed in her home, mourned by her husband and children, parents and other relatives, and her loss will be keenly felt by the neighbors and friends in the community where she lived and was loved.
