Delmar Dewayne Hanks

Delmar Dewayne Hanks of Sikeston, Missouri, formerly of Steelville,
Missouri, was born August 15, 1946 in Steelville to Earl Woodrow Hanks and
Frances Anna (Hopkins) Hanks and passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at
Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 63
years.
On August 16, 1992 in Sikeston, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Kay
Bewley.
Delmar was in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam era where he
earned three Bronze Stars.
He retired in 2006 after many years of being on the road as a truck driver
with PTI in Sikeston. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing at their home
in Wappapello Lake, hunting and most of all loving all of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Frances Hanks; four
brothers, James Hanks, Joe Hanks and wife Alma, Earl Hanks and Gene Hanks
and wife Anita and one grandson, John Edyvean, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Hanks of Sikeston, Missouri; four daughters,
Christina Clark and husband Mark, Lisa Clark and husband Eddy, all of
Fredricktown, Missouri, Becky Dawson and husband Dwight of Oahu, Hawaii and
Mollie Coulter and husband John of Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; one step son,
Don Bewley and wife Melissa of Dexter, Missouri; three step daughters, Cheryl
Moore and husband Keith of Fulton, Mississippi, Deloris Crocker and husband
Rev. Travis Crocker of Sikeston, Missouri and Crystal Edyvean and husband
John of Bradenton, Florida; three brothers, Jerry Hanks and wife Jettie of
St. James, Missouri, Gary Hanks and wife Sherri of Lohman, Missouri and Mike
Hanks and significant other, Chrissy, of Camdenton, Missouri; three sisters,
Pat Hanks and Debbie Lorraine of Steelville, Missouri and Sharon Thomas and
husband Larry of Linn, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Violet Hanks and Joyce
Hanks of Steelville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Kassie Montgomery, Morgan
Montgomery, Wil Clark, Justin Menteer, Kody Menteer, Derrick Dawson, Payton
Coulter, Gus Eby, Owen Bewley and Shelby Moore; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday, October 24, 2009
at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Travis Crocker
officiating. Special music of "Go Rest High," "When I Get to Where
I'm Going," "The Dance," "I Can Only Imagine", "If you Only Knew" and
"One More Day" was played. Memories were shared by daughter, Lisa Clark.
Committal prayer and burial with full military honors were conducted by
the U.S. Navy and the St. James VFW in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers were Justin Menteer, Kody Menteer, Derrick Dawson,
Wil Clark, Mark Clark, Paul Hanks and Clem Hanks. Honorary casket bearers
were Don Bewley, Eddy Clark, Gary Hanks, Mike Hanks, Jerry Hanks and John
Coulter.

Steelville, Missouri.
