Earl "Brigg" Hanks

Earl "Brigg" Hanks, 66 of Steelville passed away
Thursday June 15, 2006 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis,
Missouri.
Brigg was born Thursday August 10, 1939 in Steelville,
Missouri, the son of Earl Woodrow and Frances Anna Hopkins Flanks.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Hardin on September 17, 1988 in
Steelville Missouri.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Joyce of
the home; four daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy Bennett and husband Doug
of Keno, Oregon, Margie Ware of Fulton, Missouri, Kimberly Wild and
husband Patrick of Leasburg, Missouri and Lisa Wells and husband
Heath of Salem, Missouri.
Five sons, David Hanks and wife Donna of Steelville,
Missouri, Richard Ware and Kevin Ware both Fulton, Missouri, Lloyd
McKenna and wife Christine and Shawn McKenna and friend, all of
Prophetstown, Illinois.
Five brothers, Gene Hanks of Hill City, Kansas, Jerry
Hanks and wife Jettie of St. James, Missouri, Delmar Hanks and wife
Kay of Sikeston, Missouri, Gary Hanks and wife Sherri of Lohman,
Missouri, and Mike Hanks of Camdenton, Missouri.
Three sisters, Sharon Thomas and husband Larry of Rich
Fountain, Missouri, Pat Hanks and Debbie Lorraine both of
Steelville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Violet Hanks of
Steelville, Missouri and Alma Hanks of Tebbetts, Missouri; 26
grandchildren; one great grandchild, and numerous nephews, nieces
and other family friends.
He was preceded death by his parents, two grandchildren,
and two brothers, James and Joe Hanks.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member
of the Operating Engineers Local #513 of St. Louis. He was a member
of St. Michaels Catholic Church of Steelville, Missouri. He loved
fishing, boating, and traveling. Most of all he loved to visit with
family, children, grandchildren and brothers and sisters and many
friends.
Funeral services for Brigg Hanks were held Monday, June
19, 2006 in the BrittonBennett Funeral Home with Father James Finder
officiating. Special music of "Go Rest High on the Mountain" and "On
Eagles Wings," were sung by Jerry Beers.
Honoring him as casket bearers were his son, David Hanks
and his brothers, Eugene, Jerry, Delmar, Gary, and Mike Hanks with
committal prayers and burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Honorary casket bearers were Jerry Hedrick, Stanley
Watson and Gene Whitaker.
The family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral
Home of Steelville, Missouri.
