"D. W. HITT IS CALLED BY DEATH
"The news of the death of D. W. Hitt, a well known and respected citizen of this community, will be heard of with regret by his many friends. Mr. Hitt died yesterday afternoon at his home, 713 Briant Street, after a three weeks illness, due to urenamic (stet) poisoning his condition having taken a serious turn recently resulting in his death yesterday afternoon.
"He had lived in this city for a number of years and was a familiar figure in the Federal building, where he ran the elevator for several years. He was born in Lewis county, and was fifty-eight years old at time of his death. He was married in 1883 to Miss Anna Davisson, by whom he is survived. The following sons and daughters also survive: Gale Hitt, city; Goff Hitt, Akron; Mrs. B. J. Hohana (stet), Akron and Mrs. Ardell Dehrman (stet), Westerville, Pa.
"He served at one time as deputy U. S. Marshall and was also a guard of the late Judge John Jackson, of the supreme court. Of late years he had been employed at the Federal building, where his accommodating and genial disposition won him many friends. He was a member of the Seventh Street U. B. Church and an active member of the Y. M. C. A. Bunch.
"The funeral arrangements will be made later."
