Major League Baseball Player. A shortstop in professional baseball for many years, he had a lifetime batting average of .317. He played with Cleveland, St. Louis Maroons & St. Louis Brown Stockings, Indianapolis, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Paul and Sioux City in the Western league, and with the old Central league, and was for a time manager of the Ft. Wayne team. He was a player/manager for the St. Louis Brown Stockings now known as the St. Louis Cardinals. He was St. Louis' first manager of a National League team ...
