Alvin James Stehling, age 75, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2007 in San Antonio.

Alvin lived life with an enthusiasm for family get-togethers and trips, dancing with his sweetheart Jeanette, card playing, chess playing, swimming in the Caribbean, barbecuing in the backyard, hunting, organizing games and tournaments, helping others whenever they were in need, Lay Eucharistic ministry at Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and so much more.
He was truly a gift and we will miss him. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen, and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanette Stehling; children, Sharon and John Micklege, Sandy and Billy Rose, and Tod and Angelica Stehling.

Affectionately known as Opa to his 8 grandchildren, Michelle, Andrea, John Powell, Kristy, Nicole, Jackie, Catherine, and Matthew and 1 great-grandchild, Brice; sisters and brothers, Annie Detgen, Neal Stehling, Pat Jung, Alex Jung, Carol Scheele, Kathy Magoree, and Jerry Stehling; mother, Josephine Stehling; sisters and brothers in-law, Mike & Carol Stehling, Elaine O'Brien, Barbara McCallion, and John Paul Weidenfeller; mother-in-law, Lorine Weidenfeller; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 29, 2007, from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Rosary Monday, APRIL 30, 2007, 9:30 A.M. Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Rd, Helotes. Mass Monday, April 30, 2007, 10:00 A.M. Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Helotes Catholic Cemetery.
