Regina Mitchell Regina Marie "Jean" Mitchell , 99, of Mount Pleasant, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born June 18, 1900, in Adams, Minn., she was the daughter of Frank and Barbara Retterath Winkels. On Aug. 14, 1915, she married LeRoy DeLoss Kenyon. He died Nov. 11, 1918. On July 5, 1929, she married Edward Winston Mitchell . He died Jan. 21, 1962.

Mrs. Mitchell worked in the St. Augustin's School cafeteria in Des Moines until moving to Mount Pleasant in 1961. She worked at the Manning School cafeteria until it closed and then spent a considerable amount of time caring for children.

She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was a volunteer and member of the Henry County Health Center Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, [private]; two sisters, Birdie Dunlop of Austin, Minn., and Olive Hanson of Canby, Minn.; one brother, Robert Winkels of Prescott, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.

There will be a Christian vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Gathering Center of St. Alphonsus Church in Mount Pleasant, after which the family will receive friends.

The memorial service for Mrs. Mitchell will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for St. Alphonsus Capital Campaign Fund and the Fellowship Cup.
