Roger Kable

Roger Frank Kable was born on March 20, 1943, in Jackson, Minnesota. He was the son of George and Edna (Baker) Kable. Roger was baptized as an infant on May 27, 1951, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on October 7, 1956, in Jackson. He received his elementary education in Jackson and was a graduate of Hutchinson High School. Roger entered active military service in the United States Marine Corps on January 4, 1961. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 25, 1963.

On September 5, 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Constance Dummer at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with 3 daughters, Karla, Kelli and Karri. Roger and Connie resided in Glencoe, Minnesota until 1966, when they moved to Hutchinson. They shared almost 47 years of marriage.

Roger worked for his father at Kable's Furniture Store in Glencoe and Hutchinson. In 1974, Roger and his brother, Gordon, purchased Kable's from their father, and ran Kable's Furniture Store in Hutchinson until 1998 when they acquired the Slumberland Furniture Franchise. He was remembered by many as, "Gaby Rog Kable". Roger attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, and served on the Financial Board. He was also a member of the Crow River Country Club in Hutchinson, where he was a member for many years and served on the board. He was a member of the Elks Club in Hutchinson and served as exalted ruler for a year.

Roger loved to golf and especially loved the commrodary between his best friends and golf buddies. He also enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas and Saturday night dinner at the Gold Coin. Roger especially cherished the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Roger was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on October 6, 2008, he lost his courageous battle with ALS and passed away at his home in Hutchinson, Minnesota, on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at the age of 68 years. He will be dearly missed by many.
