U.S. Congressman. After graduating from the Jefferson Medical College in 1847, he opened a medical practice in Somerton, Pennsylvania. He later graduated from Hahnemann College and practiced homeopathy, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1869, he presented credentials as a Democratic Member-elect to the Forty-first Congress, serving until 1870. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of medicine until his death.
